What is Cheongan-Hap (Heavenly Stem Combination)?
Cheongan-Hap defines five combining pairs: Gap+Gi (→Earth), Eul+Gyeong (→Metal), Byeong+Sin (→Water), Jeong+Im (→Wood), Mu+Gye (→Fire). These pairs have natural affinity — in traditional symbolism, they represent cosmic marriages. When two combining stems appear in adjacent pillars, they attempt to merge. If conditions support transformation (Hap-Hwa), they become the resultant element. If not (Hap-Bulhwa), they bind without changing. Cheongan-Hap between Day Master and another stem significantly influences personality and relationships.
