Saju (Four Pillars) Structure & Patterns Essential

Day Master Strength

Day Master Strength assesses whether the Day Stem (Day Master) is strong (Singang) or weak (Sinyak), which determines the entire chart's treatment strategy and Yongsin selection.

What is Day Master Strength?

Day Master (DM) Strength is the most fundamental assessment in Saju analysis. A strong Day Master (Singang) has abundant self-element and resource support through seasonal energy, rooting, and allied stems. A weak Day Master (Sinyak) lacks support and needs strengthening. The determination involves checking: (1) seasonal support from the month branch, (2) rooting in Jijanggan, (3) count of supporting vs draining elements, and (4) presence of resource (Yin) and companion (Bigyeon) stars. This assessment drives Yongsin (useful god) selection — strong DMs need controlling elements, weak DMs need supporting elements.
