Pa (Breaking)

Pa represents six branch pairs that 'break' each other: Ja-Yu, Chuk-Jin, In-Hae, Myo-O, Sa-Sin, Mi-Sul. Breaking is subtler than clashing (Chung) or punishing (Hyeong) — it erodes rather than destroys. Pa disrupts existing combinations: if a Samhap or Yukhap is forming, a Pa relationship can prevent it from completing. In relationship analysis, Pa between charts suggests a pattern of undermining each other's strengths, often unconsciously. The effect is gradual deterioration rather than dramatic conflict.

Pa indicates subtle erosion in the affected area. Awareness of these patterns helps prevent gradual deterioration of relationships or life areas.
