What is Saju Harmonies (Hap Interactions)?
Hap ('union') is the Saju word for cooperative resonance between pillars. Each type has its own structure. Samhap (three harmonies) is the most powerful — three Earthly Branches form a trine triangle that transforms into a unified element (e.g., Tiger-Horse-Dog → Fire). Banghap (directional harmony) groups three seasonal branches into an elemental direction (spring, summer, autumn, or winter). Banhap (half harmony) is two branches of a Samhap with the middle missing — weaker but still cooperative. Yukhap (six combinations) pairs specific branches in a bilateral agreement, often producing an elemental shift. Cheongan-hap (stem combinations) pairs Heavenly Stems in five canonical unions (e.g., Gap + Gi → Earth), potentially transforming the Day Master's expression. A practitioner weighs all five — Samhap tends to dominate when present, but Cheongan-hap affecting the Day Master reshapes the entire chart.
