What is True Node (Moon's Node)?
The lunar nodes are the two points where the Moon's orbit intersects the plane of Earth's orbit around the Sun (the ecliptic). The North Node (ascending) and South Node (descending) are always exactly opposite each other. Because the Moon's orbit wobbles slightly, the nodes actually travel in a complex oscillating path. The True Node reflects this instantaneous, wobbling position. The alternative—the Mean Node—uses a smoothed average that is simpler to compute but slightly less accurate. Modern Western astrology generally favors the True Node for its precision, especially when timing node-related transits and progressions.
